Do you have to provide it yourself? Do you have to buy it on location? Each location has different rules and regulations when it comes to fires, so do your due diligence and be safe. Look in advance to see if it is permitted to collect firewood. Take the weather into consideration because the wind can wreak havoc on your fire, or it can blow sparks into the grasslands or forest that surround you. Have the tools to help contain and control the fire, like a shovel, ax, and water. Clear out the fire ring and the surrounding area so that the fire stays under control and in the ring. Campfire Safetyīefore you light a campfire, check to make sure that campfires are permitted. But before we get into this, let’s talk a little bit about fire safety. Once you determine your purpose for the fire, you will have a good idea of which type of fire you should build. Every fire is made of the same three things, but depending on how you build that fire you can produce more heat, or coals, or light. Combining those three elements gives you the fire triangle. It’s true that every fire relies on the same three factors. So try not to get too fired up as we spark this conversation about campfires. But do you know what kind of fire you want to build? Do you know what kind of fire will work best for your specific situation? There are many different styles of campfires that you can build and each one of them has pros and cons. With any luck, that’ll be with a drink in hand. The adventures for the day have finished, you’ve made it back to camp, there is nothing left to do but eat and hang out by the campfire.
